PRECISION, POWER, PERFORMANCE.

NYU Motorsports is NYC’s one and only Baja & Formula Electric Racing Team at

New York University competing in the SAE International® Collegiate Design Series.

We build a fully electric race car and an off-road vehicle that aim to expand the horizons of

modern engineering every year, bringing together NYU’s brightest engineers in the process.

NYU Motorsports is a student-run non-profit organization

that aims to bring together a group of driven students

to design, build, and race competitive race cars,

pushing the limits of what’s possible in collegiate racing.

The team consists of 101 members from all 9 NYU schools, spanning around 30 unique majors from mechanical engineering to finance to film. Students are divided among 20 sub-teams, including drivetrain, suspension, and business. We are proud to be one of the few schools that compete in both Baja SAE® and Formula SAE® competitions.

BAJA SAE®

An intercollegiate competition in which teams design and
build off-road vehicles to endure the harsh conditions of
rough terrain, water, and technical courses.

Students are tasked with the designing and
manufacturing processes involved in introducing
a new product to the consumer market.

Teams are awarded on vehicle specifics including maneuverability, acceleration, hillclimb, business presentation, and suspension.

FORMULA SAE®

ELECTRIC

An intercollegiate competition in which students
are challenged to design, develop, and compete
with small formula-style cars.

Students focus on high-speed electric cars for track racing,
emphasizing innovation in vehicle dynamics and performance.

Teams are assessed on events including endurance,
acceleration, business presentation, and autocross.
